FILMCO
FILMCO is a Trinidad Based organization that offers industry specific professional development and training, as well as distributing Caribbean films and television. I have taken advantage of multiple FILMCO workshops including a lighting worskshop with Robert MacFarlane, a writing workshop with T Newallo, and a panel discussion with Jamaican DP Gabrielle Blackwood. I myself have been a panelist on a FILMCO panel at TTFF2019 speaking about first person filmmaking.
Third Horizon
Third Horizon is an important voice in the Caribbean film scene. Their flagship Third Horizon Film festival in Miami was named “one of the 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World” by MovieMaker Magazine. We were privileged to have screened Uncivilized there. Third Horizon has recently partnered with The Caribbean Film Academy (Studio Anansi), a New York-based non-profit dedicated to the promotion and support of Caribbean filmmaking and filmmakers, in the region and the diaspora.
Studio Anansi
Recently partnered with Third Horizon, Studio Anansi is a streaming platform dedicated to Caribbean film.
“We celebrate the work of our emerging filmmakers, by encouraging, supporting, showcasing, and sharing their work, as they tell our stories. We are building an amazing collection of Caribbean stories, one film at time.”
Studio Anansi were the first distributors of Uncivilized.
Gabrielle Blackwood
Gabrielle Blackwood is a force to be reckoned with. She is a Jamaican DP & Director who shot Sevanna’s acclaimed music video Mango, and has worked for numerous international clients including Mercedes-Benz and Clarks. If you visit her website or follow her on Instagram, you’ll find that she often shares what she has learned including lighting setups as well as LUTs for colour grading dark skin.
